It was a bold call from the Italian coach in the wake of the team’s late 2-0 defeat to Sporting CP in midweek , and one which left a lot of supporters bemused in the build-up to the clash with Leicester .
Brendan Rodgers faces an uphill task to turn his fortunes around with the current Leicester City squad, if he indeed gets the chance, and performances like the one at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will not help his case.
Yet, it was an afternoon where the Foxes got the perfect start when Youri Tielemans put them 1-0 up with a penalty after six minutes of play.
However, much like Leicester ‘s season to this point, the joy was short-lived as Harry Kane levelled the match with a strike just two minutes later.

If the visitors felt they had something to build upon in the second half, their confidence was misplaced as Spurs ran riot.
Rodrigo Bentancur put the hosts 3-2 up after an awful defensive mix-up and then the wheels completely fell off.
Son was introduced after an hour and, just 11 minute later, he was on the scoresheet. The South Korean international weaved in between opposing defenders and fired a shot into the top corner from outside the penalty area.
If Conte needed any more of a message, the substitute added two more goals to complete the rout.
His second was a smart shot into the net from close range whilst he sealed his hat-trick with a similar finish, but one which needed to be checked by VAR.
The victory catapults Spurs into second place in the table, whilst Leicester are rock bottom with just one solitary point.
