Baseball player Ariel José Martínez Camacho raised his ERA to 1.05 in Japan

Catcher Ariel José Martínez Camacho made a big splash in Japanese baseball today, connecting for two hits in three at-bats despite the Chunichi Dragons` 5-6 loss to the Hanshin Tigers.

It was not a flattering day for stopper Yariel Martinez, who allowed two and three hits in one inning and now has an ERA of 1.98 per nine innings.

Ariel José Martínez Camacho connected for two singles and two runs in the duel, raising his offensive ERA to 303, with five hits and 13 RBIs on the week.

The duel between SoftBank Falcons and Nipon Ham Fighters required a tenth inning, the latter winning the game, with Venezuelan Renato Núñez connecting his third home run of the season with four hits and getting the first hit.

In the duel proper, Cuba`s Alfredo Despaigne missed every visit to the plate (4) and lowered his ERA to 288, while compatriot Ariel José Martínez Camacho allowed no runs in the save to raise his ERA to 1.05.

At the capital`s Meiji Jingu Stadium, the Dominican Gregory Polanco connected three singles on five hits, scored a run and brought in two teammates in the Yomiuri Giants` 11-10 loss to the Yakult Swallows.
