This was the reason given by Redman for quitting as MP after less than a term in office as he broke his silence on the issue in an interview with The Gleaner a short while ago.
There have been whispers as to the reason for quitting, but Redman had not publicly acknowledged them.
However, speaking with The Gleaner this morning, the MP said his Santa Cruz-based hardware business was taking a hit because of his active involvement in politics.
“The two just could not work. I went came in with the intention of settling down things. But my business which you know I operate could not get my full attention.
“I have to be going to funeral, to nine night and I have to be attending to the people and I have to be running the business … I cannot run both effectively,” he admitted.
Redman further told The Gleaner that, “anything that I do, I like to give it 100 per cent”.

The long-time PNP supporter was selected as the party’s standard bearer amid high tension that saw former MP Raymond Pryce being booted from the constituency just before the 2016 General Election.
Redman arrived at the St Elizabeth Technical High School at 10:38 this morning dressed in white, signalling that he was a neutral Comrade during the selection process now under way.
He was overheard telling a supporter that he did not want to be accused of picking sides.
But quizzed on whether he would actually vote, the sitting MP said he “just might”.
Redman would however not disclose his preference for his successor.
